Makes you think, doesn’t it?
The key is always to do the next most important thing and to enjoy the process. Anything else is just creating your own hell.
Say hello to OwnTrail
It’s been a busy Summer 2022 and if you’ve been wondering why you haven’t heard from me in several weeks it’s because I’m building, again.
I know.
After I completed my Founder in Residency with Wefunder this Spring I started to advise some startups while figuring out what’s next and one of them was OwnTrail.
After a few weeks of advising it was clear that not only was I super intrigued by what the founders, Rebekah and Kt were up to but I got so excited that we decided that I should join the founding team and help build.
I’m thrilled to share that I’m the Chief Growth Officer of OwnTrail, an early staged startup building a social professional network for people hungry to achieve their next milestone in life and work.
We’re cooking up a one-of-a-kind social OS to help you achieve your next most important life and work goals. And what’s really fascinating is it also gives you a tool to visualize your life’s work. There is something remarkable that happens when you map out all the significant milestones of your life. Thousands of people already on the platform are unlocking new possibilities and connections, fueled and supported by a peer community that helps you achieve your next.
I’m eager to see all of your trails and milestones on OwnTrail and you are welcome to join us for free and I also want to give my network a special thank you to get a full membership by using the code “DSW2022”.
I have created two new Groups on OwnTrail for Denver Startup Week and Women Who Startup because I’d love to see and support fellow community members focused on achieving your next wins in work and life. You can select either or both Denver Startup Week and Women Who Startup during your OwnTrail onboarding and you’ll find me there.
The incredible power of having a social network designed purely to support you on achieving what you’re building and what you’re learning is why I’ve been obsessed with building technology that helps us make stronger connections and puts people in a greater position of opportunity for well over a decade.
Join me on OwnTrail and I hope to see you at Denver Startup Week. I will be actively live tweeting my whereabouts and the events I’m headed to and attending so that we can have an opportunity to fist bump and catch up.
Thrilled to see what all of you share on your trails.

What’s currently cooking at OwnTrail?
We’re currently fundraising, building, growing and fully rebranding and repositioing OwnTrail. This team is really something special.
I’m also going to be hiring soon for our first marketing team member, standby for more on that. If you’re interested feel free to reply. I’ll be focused on hiring a marketing coordinator that wants to grow into a growth marketing role. Someone who loves tech, SaaS, content creation, product marketing, email marketing and most of all our community and members.
Denver Startup Week 2022
A week long celebration of all things entrepreneurial between the Coasts. The largest Startup Week in the world. Join us for Denver Startup Week
I’ll be pretty plugged in on Tuesday and Wednesday when a lot of VC and Fundrasing events take place. I hope to see you all there. I’ll be active on Twitter sharing my whereabouts.
I spoke to NPR about Venture Capital
"I think more women are going to win. I think more Black and brown, Asian, immigrants and disabled founders are going to continue to win, because we're not going to shut up," van Vuuren told NPR.
"Every generation has yearning for improvement. That is the beauty of human evolution. We will always, hopefully, be focused on improving the way we found things, especially younger generations. So whether Adam continues to make headlines or whatnot is irrelevant to someone right now, at her desk, trying to build a startup with four team members with about $400,000 in the bank. They're gonna be out of money in several months. And she has to figure out how to raise money. She's focused on that." Read on
What are you working on?
Leave a comment and let’s get into it. I’m always building community and would love to know how we can help each other connect and grow. Create your OwnTrail account, launch a Milestone and share a Beacon to get input, feedback and support from the network. Magic happens when you’re connected to opportunity.
New Music
There’s one universal language I know we all speak and it’s music.
Today’s track is not new.
Ride 'Em On Down, by The Rolling Stones. I want to take that car for a spin. Kristen Stewart does it justice in the meantime.
Thanks for reading.
As always — Keep Climbing.
Until next time,
Lizelle
